Summary
Folgaria–Lavarone, marketed as Alpe Cimbra, is a family ski domain of 104 km of pistes and 28 lifts in southern Trentino, just 1.5 hours from Verona. The resort combines accessible skiing with a unique historical component: the Skitour dei Forti, a ski touring route that traverses First World War fortifications and trenches.
It is part of Skirama Dolomiti, allowing you to combine days here with Madonna di Campiglio, Paganella or Monte Bondone using multi-day lift passes.

Why ski here
1. Skitour dei Forti: skiing + history Ski touring route between Austrian and Italian First World War fortifications (1915-18). Unique cultural experience in the Alps, ideal for families with teenagers.
2. 104 km at the best price One of Trentino’s largest domains with a very affordable lift pass (~55-65€). Excellent km/euro ratio.
3. 1.5 hours from Verona Quick access from Verona (low-cost flights from Spain). Ideal for short 4-5 night breaks.
4. Pure family profile Wide pistes, predominantly easy and intermediate. Powerful snow-making that compensates for moderate altitudes.

Giora’s advice
Folgaria-Lavarone is my recommendation for Spanish families seeking their first Alpine skiing trip: minimum price, easy access from Verona (Ryanair), 104 km of easy pistes and the Skitour dei Forti as a differentiating experience for teenagers. Combine with a day at Paganella or Madonna di Campiglio (Skirama) for variety.
