Summary
SkiWelt is one of Austria’s largest interconnected ski domains: 275 km of pistes and 81 lifts linking 9 Tyrolean villages, with 20 valley descents and a network of 80 mountain huts (Hütten) — the highest density of mountain refuges in any Alpine domain.
The domain stands out for its balance of levels (115 km easy + 121 km intermediate = 86% of total) and for hosting Austria’s largest night skiing area at Söll. With 229 km covered by artificial snow (83% of the domain), snow reliability is high despite relatively modest altitudes.
Direct neighbour of KitzSki (Kitzbühel), with a skiable connection via Westendorf-Kirchberg — a future combined domain of 500+ km is on the horizon.

Why ski here
1. 275 km + 80 huts = the perfect ski safari Ski from hut to hut, stopping for Kaiserschmarrn, Tiroler Gröstl or a Jäger Tee. 80 Hütten spread across the entire domain — this is the quintessential Austrian mountain gastronomic experience.
2. Austria’s largest night skiing area Söll offers the country’s largest night skiing zone: multiple lit pistes, festive atmosphere. A unique experience for families and groups.
3. Nine authentic Tyrolean villages They are not artificial resorts — they are real valley villages with church spires, farms and local life. Each with its own character, all connected by the lifts.
4. 86% easy/intermediate pistes Ideal for families and progressing skiers. The 39 km of difficult runs keep advanced skiers engaged, but the domain’s DNA is accessibility.
5. Connection to KitzSki From Westendorf you can ski through to Kirchberg (KitzSki). The SuperSkiCard lift pass covers both domains. Future: possible merger to 500+ km.

Giora’s tip
I haven’t skied here personally. This sheet is based on verified sources.
SkiWelt is Giora’s recommendation for families and groups seeking the authentic Tyrolean experience: mountain huts, charming villages, night skiing, and 275 km at reasonable prices. It’s the Austria you imagine when you think of skiing in the Alps.
Must-do:
- Do a “Hütten-Safari”: 4-5 huts in one day, eating something at each one
- Night skiing in Söll (at least one evening)
- Ski through to Westendorf and cross into KitzSki/Kirchberg
Strategy: 5-7 nights. Base yourself in Söll (lively) or Ellmau (family-friendly). 4-5 days skiing, 1 day exploring villages.
