Summary
Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) is the most compact and efficient ski mountain in Dolomiti Superski: a single summit at 2,275m from which pistes radiate in all directions towards six base villages. With 121 km of wide pistes (average 40m wide, 476 ha of skiable area) and 31 state-of-the-art lifts, it is a carving paradise.
The resort stands out for its exceptional accessibility: several gondolas connect directly with train stations (Percha-Ried), eliminating the need for a car. At the summit, the Messner Mountain Museum (MMM Corones) designed by Zaha Hadid adds a unique cultural attraction.

Why ski here
1. Ultra-wide pistes for carving With an average width of 40m, Kronplatz’s pistes are among the widest in the Dolomites. Perfect for high-speed carving. The Ried piste (7 km) is one of the longest and most satisfying descents.
2. Compact mountain, zero wasted time Concept of “one mountain, all directions”: from the summit you can access all pistes without complicated links or buses. Maximum efficiency of metres skied per hour.
3. Direct train access The Percha-Ried connection allows you to arrive by train from Innsbruck or Bolzano and go straight up the gondola without a car. Exceptional accessibility for the Dolomites.
4. Messner Mountain Museum at the summit The MMM Corones, designed by Zaha Hadid, crowns the 2,275m with exhibitions about mountaineering. Art and architecture at the edge of the pistes.

Giora’s advice
Kronplatz is my recommendation for families and intermediate skiers looking for efficiency and comfort. Wide pistes, no navigation hassles, modern lifts and train access. Ideal as a base for 5-7 nights combining Kronplatz with excursions to Alta Badia or Cortina (both ~30 min by car).
