Ideal for Serious skier or sports group wanting the 300 km of Espace Killy from 2,100 m, with glacier at hand and nightlife three minutes from your door.
Avoid if Anyone who gets dizzy at altitude, seeks an intimate setting or traditional village. Tignes is a functional resort designed for skiing — for Savoyard charm there's Valmorel; for peace and quiet, La Rosière or Saint-Moritz.

Tignes is the highest Club Med in the French Alps — 2,100 m base altitude, right in the heart of Espace Killy. That means one very concrete thing: if you book the first or last week of the season, you’ll find snow here. If you book February, white pistes all the way down. If you book late April, there’s still glacier.

The resort is new (recently added to the Club Med catalogue) and it shows: spa signed by Sothys, Yoga by Heberson, three room categories (Superior, Deluxe, Exclusive Collection Space) and access to the same 300 km network of pistes connected to Val d’Isère. The difference between the two: Val d’Isère leans more towards “Exclusive Collection / couples without children”; Tignes is more versatile, suits a group of four friends skiing hard just as well as a family with teenagers.

In favour: the altitude — 2,100 m is among France’s highest, guaranteeing snow and long descents without needing another lift. Against: the architecture. Tignes Val Claret is a 1970s–80s resort, functional, not charming; anyone after a postcard-pretty village should look elsewhere.

Don’t go if you want a historic village like Megève or a welcoming lower altitude. For traditional architecture, Valmorel; for low altitude and forest, Grand Massif.

I recommend Tignes to anyone who tells me “I want to ski hard and get back to my hotel without thinking about it”.

Why Club Med

Lift pass, lessons, meals and kids’ club on a single invoice.

Club Med works very well for one particular kind of traveller: families who do not want to think about anything for a week, couples who would rather have the table already set than go hunting for a bistro, groups who like dinner to mix with other tables. If you recognise yourself there, this is for you.

All-inclusive in the Alps has little to do with all-inclusive in the Caribbean. Here the lift pass, the ESF lessons, full board with wine on the table and the kids’ club all live inside the same price. There are no surprises on the way out. When you add up on paper what each of those costs separately at any resort in the Alps, the Club Med model usually lands on the side of making sense.

If it does not suit you, I will say so: if what you want is the cabin lost in the middle of the woods, or long dinners in the village at your own pace, or you are not taking anyone to a kids’ club — there are other products on this same site for that (chalets in Méribel, and booking freely in any of the resorts we list).

What I add is the human filter: helping you decide which resort fits how you travel — before you book, not after.
